I am not a very religious person. I'm a baptized catholic but I'm unconfirmed. I only go to church about once a year, on christmas. In general I'm an agnostic. In some ways a complete atheist.
However, I understand people who turn to religion. They are looking for an outlet of faith. Me, I have faith in my family and friends, and in myself. That is enough for me. Some people feel the need for something more.
However, some people use their religion as grounds for apathy. They tell themselves not to worry about certain things, that God will take care of it. This apathetic belief comes from the born-again holier-than-thous, the admittedly sinful dregs of the earth, and everything in-between. This piece illustrates that the Jesus figure, or whatever it may be in one's life, is always just out of reach, and thus one cannot turn to Him or it to solve their problems. Thus, "It's In Your Hands".
Despite my lack of religious bounds, I do believe in many of the teachings of Christ and the other religious figures, such as Buddha. Most of them preached the same things: compassion, love, and humility. It is the teachings of religion that should guide your life, not the stilted symbol up on the cross.
That's what the picture says to me.

And all people live, Not by reason of any care they have for themselves, But by the love for them that is in other people.
